Canoeing

Aluminum canoes and kayaks are free for guests to use at Carpenter Lake. You can tour the lake or enjoy a paddle up the meandering river above the lake. Look for fish in the clear water, turtles on logs and a myriad of water lilies.

Hiking

Two well-marked hiking trails of several kilometers length are maintained in the Carpenter Lake area. One trail goes around the lake and affords spectacular vistas from high bluffs overlooking the lake. Another trail goes up along the Thessalon River and treats hikers to waterfalls and tranquil small lakes.

Swimming

The shoreline of Carpenter Lake in front of your cabin is marked by extensive beaches of sand and gravel. These are wonderful places to swim, snorkel, wade about or just sit in the shade and watch the children make castles of sand.

ATVing

There is a wealth of tracks and trails around Carpenter Lake that are fun to explore with your all-terrain vehicle. ATVs are important for those who wish to access remote fishing localities. Special parking areas are designated for ATVs near camp; you cannot drive an ATV to your cabin door.
